Description: Osman Gazi AKA Osman the 1st (as depicted in the Kurulus: Osman series, played by Burak Ozcivit)
The Story: Osman I, also known as Osman Gazi, was the founder and first Sultan of the Ottoman Beylik, which would rise to eventually become the Ottoman Empire. Both the dynasty and the Ottoman Empire were named after him. According to the Ottoman tradition, his family hailed from the Kayi branch of the Oghuz Turkish tribe. His father was Ertugrul Gazi and his mother was Halime Hatun (also known as Halime Sultan). Osman I founded the empire during the end of the 13th century in the Söğüt town (present-day Bilecik Province) in northwestern Anatolia. Through a series of victories against the Byzantine Empire, he laid the foundation for his ancestors to build an empire spanning three continents, lasting centuries, and leaving its influence on the Middle East, Balkans, and the world.
